If you still aren't sure, ask her. You don't need to tell her what it is for, just let her know it's a surprise that she is going to love it. Leave her intrigued - tease her! Or even ask one of her close friends or mother who can snoop without arousing suspicion -they'll enjoy keeping the secret.
 

Investigation - its rather fun - there is a little detective in all of us! Peek in the wardrobe and through her lingerie drawer. Find her most comfortable everyday bra(s) and look in the back for the size. What colours does she prefer, pastels, rich fashion colours or sexy black?
 

Colour - Generally, white bras are worn to work, black bras in the evening and skin tone under fitted or see-through tops as it's the most invisible colour. Fashion colours are normally chosen for special occasions or just for fun!
 

Has she recently given birth? Allow more room!

Lingerie Glossary

Baby Dolls - Lingerie or nightgown usually designed with an empire cut waistband and a-line cut, loose and swaying skirt section falling anywhere from naval to mid-thigh.

Bikini - A panty style with more coverage than a thong, and less than a brief. Typically, this brief sits below the naval and on the hips, but is slightly higher than a low-ride or hipster cut. The sides are usually high cut with either strings, bands or thin fabric separating the front and back coverage areas.

Bra - Short for brassiere (after the inventor), a bra is a women's undergarment designed to provide shape and support for the breasts.

Bodystocking - Form fitting garment made of nylon or fine mesh that covers the entire body form neck to ankle or toe.

Body Suits - Similar to a bodystocking, bodysuits cover the entire body from neck to ankle or toe and made in opaque stretchable fabrics similar to leotards.

Boxers - Underwear or sleepwear designed with an elastic waistband and open, loose fitting legs. Men wear boxers as undergarments, and women typically as lounge or sleepwear.

Bustier - Undergarment similar to a bra but extends down to the waist or hips to create a structured, supported look. Bustiers are often boned and include underwires and may have removable straps.

Camisole - A dainty and it covers the area from the bust to the hip/waist Area. It can be worn under see-through blouses or in place of a blouse. A camisole is a great gift since there is no sizing difficulty associated with it since it can be worn in many different ways. (tight, loose etc.)

Chemise - A gown used as night/bed wear. It extends down to a woman's thigh in length. Panties and a robe are common matching items that are found with a chemise. It comes in small, medium or large and is a great gift.

Corset - a close-fitting undergarment, worn to support and shape the waistline, hips, and breasts. Traditionally in two pieces, boned and laced up back and front.

Crotchless - A style of panty with an open crotch area or slit in the crotch for easy access.

Fishnet - An open mesh fabric that has the appearance of netting and is often used to make stockings

Garter Belt - A intimate accessory that fits around the waist and hips with straps to hold up thigh-high stockings. The back and straps are typically adjustable.

Gown - Is like a chemise but varies in length from thigh, to ankle length. Variations do exist in the owners expectations of how they want to please themselves along with their loved one. Gowns may be worn as Lounge wear or for the bedroom. Full length gowns can be too long for very short women so it should be remembered when ordering small, medium or large.

G-String - A style of panty similar to a thong where the front fabric panel is connected by thin lines of fabric or elastic that rides along the hips or just below and fits between the buttocks.

Halter neck - A short, bra or undergarment style where the fabric wraps behind and around the neck for support. Halters may tie, clasp or be an uninterrupted piece of fabric that slides over the head.

Leather - Animal hide

Lycra - A fibre originally trademarked by DuPont, for an elastomeric fibre with stretch and recover abilities.

Negligee - A woman's nightgown or undergarment made of thin, usually sheer fabric.

Panty - A general term for women's undergarments. Panties come in a variety of styles but are specific to coverage of the female region.

Removable garters - Garter belt straps that can be removed if stockings aren't worn.

Seamless - A style of fabric and/or garment designed and built without seams or lines to create smooth appearances under outerwear and for comfort.

Stocking - Close-fitting hosiery to cover the foot and leg; come in matched pairs (usually used in the plural)

Suspender Belt - Similar to a garter, suspender belts are designed to secure at the waist and have straps to clasp to stockings.

Teddy - A woman's one-piece undergarment serving as both bra and panty, usually with a thong back.

Thong - An underwear style for both men and women with a thin fabric back that rest between the buttocks. 

Underwire - The metal or silicone shaped "U" that resides under the cup of the bra and provides support.
